Does
my business need to purchase the total VoIP solution from Convergetel?
No,
we can supply just one or a combination of our many services such as
the IP
PBX, installation, broadband, VoIP call plans, etc.
It all depends on what your requirements are.
Is
the voice quality of a VoIP call, the same as what I currently
experience?
Call
quality is no longer an issue due to the high bandwidth available with
broadband access. As a matter of fact, in many cases call quality is
better
than that of analog telephone service because of that fact that VoIP is
a
digital technology.
Are
we able to keep our
existing telephone number if we switch to VoIP?
In
most cases, yes you can and it takes a few weeks to complete. In the
mean time
inbound calls are forwarded to VoIP or continue to come into your
business
through their existing method.
Is
VoIP as reliable as the
Plain Old Telephone System (POTS)?
It
depends on the exact nature of the specific VoIP solution. Typically,
because
most VoIP solutions rely on a data connection, they tend not to be as
reliable
as POTS. However, it’s easy to build a VoIP solution that has
backup redundancy
using the Plain Old Telephone System. Which means you get the
reliability of
POTS (should the VoIP fail) as well as the savings and extra
functionality of
VoIP.
Our
PABX still works fine,
can we continue to use it?
We
have numerous customers where we have simply added an ATA to their
existing
PABX to get them onto VoIP. Some customers even combine POTS and VoIP
by using
POTS for inbound calls and VoIP for cheaper outbound calls.
Can
we use a single broadband
connection for both VoIP and internet access?
You
sure can. You just need to ensure that your network is configured to
give VoIP
traffic priority over data. When we provide broadband as part of our
solution
we configure the broadband devices to do this for you.
Is
our 1300 or 1800 number compatible with VoIP?
Yes. Many of our customers
use these inbound toll free numbers with our VoIP services. We can
provide you
with a new 1300/1800 number, move your existing 1300/1800 number across
to
Convergetel or you can continue to use another provider.
